Reddit is a huge traffic source when it comes to traffic generation. In this tutorial, I will show you how To Get Traffic Using Reddit for free. You may need a website but if you don’t a landing page may work as well.
Reddit is kind of a discussion social platform where people share images, ideas, and videos. So this means you can literally jump on Reddit and start sharing your ideas.
Right, you can do that but you are going to need a strategy to use to help you stay safe, help others while benefiting as well.
As always I have videos attached to help you see the idea visually. With this example, I have a case study of how I get 50–60 visitors for free daily from one subreddit by using this exact strategy.
So I know what works when it comes to Reddit marketing.
Reddit has subreddits which are smaller communities that are based on interests, opinions. hobbies, ideas, and even character.
You will need to rely on these subreddits for traffic generation but the idea can even be made better with the strategy am going to explain in order to make it work all the time.
These specific subreddits should allow links, polls and have a decent number of members both online and in general. [50 for online and 10k+ members is good to start with.]
Finding The Niche Related subreddits
You will need to find niche related subreddits and see if they fit the following criteria
- Should have 10k+ total members with a minimum average of 50 online.
- Should allow links, polls, and other media.
- Should have decent engagement on the recently added posts.
- Should be active in the past 24 hours if not an hour.
This is the most important step you should ensure you get this first otherwise you will waste time creating awesome click-worthy content and lack a place to share it.
Step 2 Find Content Ideas.
The content we are going to be sharing should have some sort of curiosity and viral nature to it. I mean it should be click-worthy not clickbait.
This is the most important step and you should get this right otherwise the method won’t work.
Head over to Google and find enter a few seed keywords related to your niche.
For example, if I had a food blog I would type in words like “cooking, recipes, meal plan”
The idea here is to find articles that are getting a lot of o attention at the moment or that are in other words trending.
You can find these easily via Google itself, Google trends, or in the News section on Google.
Let me show you a live example of what I mean.
For this example let’s say I was going for the recipe which means a food blog.
If I enter the keyword “ easy recipes” you can see that these are articles from huge sites. Which is okay. We can use these for inspiration and see what is working.
- Take note of the headlines they are using are they click-worthy
- Length and structure of content.
- Is it trending at the moment? You can check this on Google trends and Reddit to see the trend. If people are discussing it then it is worth your time.
- If you have no idea of the topic do some research on the ranking sites to see where they get their information.
From the search for easy recipes, I noted that the top sites in the news are talking about easy recipes inspired by celebrities and recipes for the Grammy awards.
This means that soon the recipes for Grammys are going to pick momentum so you might want to write that article now.
This ill be irrelevant depending on the time you read this guide. what this means is that you should look for patterns and see hat these ranking pages are sharing. If it is shareable content then great for you.
You can model after this and get traffic from Reddit by just using this strategy to your advantage.
“Here you will need to use a lot of thinking and see if the topic is worth your time. Just think about it and see if people will really be interested in that topic later on.
Remember the overall purpose of getting this Reddit traffic is to show Google that our content is worth ranking and it is getting shares on Reddit and other socials.”
For Google Trends, you simply need to find keywords that are getting attention at the moment. If you are the first to write an article about these keywords you can rank for them and get huge traffic.
This allows you to take up the first spot for this keyword even on Google because you are most relevant.
9/10 times you will stick to the first spot if you have long and high-quality content unless a huge website publishes a similar article.
For our example of a food blog, you can see that “raising bread” is picking up momentum. You can write an article on these recipes and share it on Reddit for more exposure.
Of course, always check the competition and if the ranking sites are huge sites ignore that keyword and keep digging.
If the recipe is new and you happen to know of it then you can be a pioneer and lead the wave.
Another great way to find out what content idea you can create is by doing a poll. The idea of a poll is to find problems that your audience is facing.
This will help you come up with content to answer their problems.
Hope you get the idea… You should have a list of some click-worthy content and titles by the time you move through these methods.
Sharing the Content.
As I have stated above you should look for subreddits first, that allow links and Polls. if you don’t find any of these you are going to waste your time creating the content.
Basically, we are working our way backward.
You will need to do all the Basic SEO for that article as usual. I will assume you know about SEO for this case. But will restate the basics for new bloggers or those without a website and are using Medium or any other free blogging platform
- Add the keyword in the title.
- Add the keyword in the first paragraph of your article and some variations as well often called LSI keywords.
- Add an Image with alt text.
- Add a video if necessary.
- Add the keyword in the conclusion or last paragraph.
That is it, don’t do much than that. Anything after that is keyword staffing. Google and other search engines are smart to know what your article is about.
Now that your article is fully SEO ready go ahead and share the article in the subreddit that you chose. Here is an example of a good subreddit to share your content.
You will need to share more pieces of content such as images of the food you prepare if you are a food blogger.
If you have no idea of what to share then use images you own on your site then ask people to share their thoughts.
Here you will not seem spammy and self-promotional. You should as well answer questions in these subreddits to help you establish your presence.
If you do everything I have taught you in this article you should see results better than mine.
Ensure you are respectful of the subreddits’ rules and always try to talk to the moderators and admins on each of the content you share.
This is how to ensure that you always get the best of their audience.
Good luck.
I am out I will see you in the next one.
